DIRECTIONS

The University of Toronto is located near downtown Toronto. It is at the nexus of the city's east-west and north-south subway lines, and is therefore very accessible by public transit. It also borders on a number of interesting neighbourhoods (e.g., Koreatown, the Annex, Chinatown, and Kensington Market) and popular attractions (e.g., the Royal Ontario Museum, the Bata Shoe Museum). For more information on the area, feel free to ask any of the conference coordinators or volunteers.

The following directions to the conference location are organized by your mode of arrival.

PLANE:

Pearson International Airport
The city's primary international airport is located about 25km northwest of downtown. There are a number of ways to get from the airport to U of T:

Public transit: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) services an express route from the airport into the city; it takes about an hour to get from Pearson to campus, and costs $3.25 ($3 on a Presto card). Ride bus number 192 ("The Rocket") from Pearson to Kipling Station. Then ride the Line 2 subway (Bloor-Danforth) from Kipling to St. George Station. The Gerald Larkin Building (where most of the conference events will take place) is about a five minute walk from there: exit St. George Station onto Bedford Avenue, turn right, then turn right on Bloor Street W, then turn left onto Devonshire Place. In about a block, the Larkin Building (15 Devonshire Place) will be on your left side.

Please note that on weekends, TTC subway lines will occasionally be closed for track maintenance. Shuttle buses service the routes instead, but can sometimes result in travel delays. Plan ahead by consulting the TTC's web pages for planned and unplanned route changes and closures.

UP Airport Express train: This will get you from Pearson to downtown in about 25 minutes. It currently costs $12.35 ($9.25 on a Presto card). Trains run every 15 minutes from 5:27am to 12:57 am, 7 days a week. The return train from Union to Pearson also runs every 15 minutes, starting at 4:55am and ending at 1:00 am. To get to campus from Union Station, ride the northbound Line 1 subway (Yonge-University) to St.

Taxi: About a 40 minute drive; usually costs about $50-60 one way. Uber vehicles are also readily available in the city.

Billy Bishop Airport
Some Atlantic and Eastern North American Airlines (e.g. Porter) will fly into Billy Bishop Airport, which is located just southeast of downtown Toronto, on the city's lakefront. There are also a few ways to get from Billy Bishop to the University.

Public Transit: The TTC ride takes about 35 minutes and costs $3.25 ($3 on Presto). From Billy Bishop, walk north (away from the water) to Fleet and Bathurst Streets. Ride the 511 streetcar to Bathurst Station, transfer to the eastbound Line 2 subway (Bloor-Danforth) and get off at St.

Taxi: The 15-30 minute drive costs about $15-25. (Costs and travel times will vary according to traffic conditions.)
